Ardea Timberworks LLC is a Northeast Kingdom of Vermont based Carpentry team focused on building and restoring structures that exemplify the best of New England craftsmanship. We combine our love for New England Vernacular design with an emphasis toward Native lumber and sustainability.
One of our main strengths lies in the craft of Timber Frame construction. We create frames for homes, barns, and pavilions with time tested methods of design, using mortise and tenon joinery.
We strive to create and preserve structures that support the rural, and working landscape in which we live. At the same time we pursue healthy homes that perform well in our Northern climate. With access to local woodlots, including our own, and partnerships with local loggers, we are able to procure wood with little embodied energy. Thus eliminating largely, imported and energy intensive products. Our design strategies utilize these materials to create comfortable, efficient homes.
