In 2017 Ardea Timberworks was chosen to restore the front foyer to the Craftsbury Academy. Located on the iconic village green at Craftsbury Common, the building represents a style that could be described as Carpenter Gothic. This third iteration of the building was built largely by volunteers returning from the civil war in 1865. The first two buildings had succumbed to rapid degradation due to poor quality brick, and then fire.
We carefully cataloged and dismantled the original porch and railing that tops the entryway. An asphalt shingled roof was replaced with White Cedar shingles as per the original. Back at the shop, our team built a new porch railing and installed in October 2017.
